Market demand of lithium battery industry

According to relevant data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the output of lithium-ion batteries has increased year by year from 13.987 billion in 2018 to 18.845 billion in 2020. The year-on-year growth rate remained at a relatively high level.

At present, the application scenarios of lithium ion batteries are mainly divided into three areas: consumer electronics, power and energy storage.

Sales of new energy vehicles continued to rise, and demand for power batteries increased simultaneously. The main demand side of power batteries is new energy vehicle manufacturers. In June 2021, the total sales of new energy vehicles was 256,000, a year-on-year increase of 139.3%.

Policies promote the upgrading of the energy storage industry, which is good for lithium batteries to expand the energy storage market. The application of non-lithium batteries in the field of energy storage is expected to become another new growth point after new energy vehicles. New energy storage is other energy storage compared to traditional pumped energy storage, including electrochemical energy storage.

There are broad application scenarios for consumer electronics, and future demand will continue to rise. Lithium batteries for non-digital products such as mobile phones, personal computers and e-cigarettes in daily use are an essential part of it. In addition, the continuous introduction of new consumer electronic products will also become a new growth point for lithium batteries. Thanks to the emergence of new electronic consumer products such as e-cigarettes and drones, there is still a new increase in the demand for lithium batteries on the consumer electronics side.
