Lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4 Battery) refers to the use of lithium iron phosphate as cathode materials for the lithium ion batteries.
LiFePO4 Battery Pack belongs to secondary lithium battery , mainly used as power battery . It has big advantages compared with NI-MH and Ni-Cd. LiFePO4 Battery Pack has high charge and discharge rate above 90% while the lead acid battery has about 80%.
LiFePO4 Battery Pack has some advantages below :
1. Safety performance improvement
The P-O key of LiFePO4 battery crystal is very stable , very difficult to break down. Even at high temperature or overcharge, the structure will not break down , therefor it has a good safety performance.
2.Deep Life Cycle
Lead-acid battery’ cycle life is about 300 times, the maximum is 500. While the lithium iron phosphate battery’ cycle life is of 2000 times . For lead-acid battery ,with half year new ,half year old and half year maintaining , therefore life span can be 1-1.5 years . While the lithium iron phosphate batteries under the same conditions, the theory of life span will reach 7~8years.
3. High temperature performance
Lithium iron phosphate electric peak is up to 350 ℃ -500℃while lithium manganese oxide and lithium cobalt oxide are about 200 ℃. It has a wide operating temperature range (-20℃--+75℃).
4. Larger Capacity
Compared with ordinary batteries (lead-acid battery etc.) , the capacity of single LiFePO4 battery cell can be 5AH-1000AH.
5. Lighter Weight
For same capacity and voltage , the LiFePO4’s volume is only the 2/3 of lead-acid battery, and the LiFePO4’s weight is 1/3 of lead-acid battery.
6. Environmentally Friendly
The material of LiFePO4 battery pack does not contain any heavy metals and rare metals , no pollution for the environment.
7. No memory effect
If rechargeable batteries are often fulling charging but incomplete discharging condition, the capacity will decrease rapidly lower than the rated capacity ,this phenomenon is called memory effect . NiMH, NiCd battery have memory effect ,but LiFepo4 battery has no memory effect . So that the LiFePO4 battery pack can be charge at any situation ,no need to full discharge .
